Kate Spade Purses

Kate Spade purses are the brain child of Katherine Noel Brosnahan and then boyfriend (now husband) Andy Spade.

With Kate’s background as an accessories editor at Mademoiselle Magazine and Andy’s experience as a creative director at an advertising company, the two collaborated to pinpoint what was lacking in the fashion world: sensibility.

Together they took a risk and created six simple shapes; the evening bag, clutch, tote, shoulder bag, closed top bag and open top bag which today continue to be the company’s six signature styles.

The success of their initial idea flourished as Kate utilized simple silhouette shapes, fabrics, textiles and colors to reinvent a simple no nonsense handbag that revolutionized the handbag market.

Kate Spade was launched in January of ’93 and the first shop was opened in 1996 in New York’s SOHO.

Today, the Kate Spade name brand is known for being the ‘no-nonsense’ fashion statement.

Kate Spade boutiques are rapidly spreading across the world and now her collections encompass not only handbags but shoes, accessories, apparel, baby items, glasses and stationary.
